As the Battle of Monmouth drew near, tensions were high across the board. Here’s a look at Claire’s top moments from Outlander season 7, episode 15.
While the episode certainly left us with a major cliffhanger, Claire had some standout moments leading up to it. We got to see her share her honest fears about the Battle of Monmouth, and we had a chance to see her back in action as a war surgeon.
We’re not focusing too much on the ending to this episode, although there is something that is worth noting. Here are the three top moments for Claire in the episode.
Sharing her fears with Jamie
We get flashbacks throughout the episode of the night before the Battle of Monmouth. Claire is worried that something bad is coming. This battle feels different to all the rest, and she is honest about that with Jamie. However, she can’t figure out what that feeling is.
Jamie questions whether it’s that death is coming for him, but she doesn’t feel like that’s the case. We know as we get to the end what that feeling actually is, though. It would be normal for Claire to keep something like this to herself. You don’t tell the soldiers this sort of thing before they’re going into battle, but Claire needs Jamie to keep his head and focus on what’s to come. She needs to do this so he knows how serious she feels about the danger.
Refusing to argue with the surgeon
Claire has certainly learned a lot during her time in the past. One of those is that you just can’t argue with idiots, and that was the case in Outlander season 7, episode 15. The old Claire would have argued with the surgeon about treating patients in the church. As Denny tried to argue for her, she realized that it was a lost cause. There wasn’t time to argue as the battle was starting.
That didn’t stop her from getting into the church when needed. She wasn’t going to ask for permission to treat a soldier inside, and that helped to prove the surgeon wrong. Claire probably wouldn’t have seen how bad the soldier was had she been inside the church anyway—of course, she wouldn’t have been shot had the surgeon just let her inside!

Knowing Denny was the best person to help
After being shot, Jamie rushed her inside the church. The surgeon made it clear that there was nothing he could do, and he left. Well, Claire knew that something could be done to save her life, but she couldn’t do it herself.
As she bled out, she made it clear that Denny Hunter could help. He’d know what to do because she taught him. I love that we see in this moment that Claire is able to put her life into Denny’s hands, and she trusts him to save her. At least, she trusts him to do everything in his power to save her.
