After being left with nothing, Lord John Grey has to figure out what to do in A Plague of Zombies Section 19. There is only one way forward.

This chapter is a great look at the resilience that Lord John Grey has. We get to see his military training and his calm nature at work. It makes it such an important chapter, even though it could make for a boring section of TV show.

I do think back to how people got bored of seeing Claire walking through the jungle in Outlander season 3. I appreciated it as it gave us a look at everything Claire could go through in the hope of survival and being reunited with Jamie.

Breaking down A Plague of Zombies Section 19

After being left alone with no food or water, Lord John Grey has to figure out how to survive. He also needs to decide what he will do. Should he return to the governor’s home, or should he got to the maroons to find Tom and Rodrigo? He chooses to follow the horns to find the maroons.

It takes three days. And during that time, he eats the berries that he finds and drinks water from the stream. There’s no point in finding a path. He has to live in the way that the maroons live in a way, and it shows us just how quickly he can adapt to survive a situation.

It’s clear that the maroons want him to find them. They are also testing his resilience. They guide him to them with the horns. Plus, if they really wanted Lord John Grey dead, they would have killed him in the night.

As John reaches a clearing, people come into view. He has found the maroons he’s looking for.

Could this chapter be adapted for a TV series?

I do think that this section would be worth using if A Plague of Zombies was adapted. We would need to see just how well John can adapt to survive. It’s important to show that he knows his way around a forest, despite being a man who has lived in fancy homes for most of his life.

I would also want to see how the maroons guide him to them. This is important for the plot, as it sets up the fact that they’re not looking to hurt him.
