Outlander Book Club: Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 91 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter starts with Lord John Grey coming to the house Bree is staying at in Savannah. He shares that the French are looking to pull out soon to avoid the hurricane, which means the siege will be over. Jemmy is excited about the idea of a hurricane, while Mandy is enchanted by Lord John Grey kissing her hand.
Bree and John have different opinions about the way that the war will end. John is sure that the British will eventually win, but he does leave Bree with an America flag in case the Americans win.
The one person Bree is concerned about is Roger. He’s “out there,” and John notes that he won’t be able to get back into the city. There are barricades up to prevent that being possible, but he will get word out to make sure Roger is safe.
This is when I’m surprised by Lord John Grey’s actions. He asks Bree for Roger’s name and what he looks like. Surely he knows what Roger looks like and knows who he is. If he was just asking for clothing and length of hair right now, I could understand it, but everything else doesn’t make sense. It’s not like John would forget this man, especially with John having a past as a spy!
The chapter ends the next day. Bree wakes up to silence. The siege has come to an end. This is what Frank had written about, but Bree found it hard to believe everything in the book while living it all in the past.
