Ian and Rachel make it to Emily in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 87

After a long and eventful journey north, Young Ian and Rachel finally see Emily in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 87. It leads to Oggy finally getting a name.

I want to start this with some thoughts on Ian’s trip north to Emily. It did seem like she was in far more trouble than it’s clear she is in. The Mohawk really do look out for their own, and maybe that’s why there wasn’t too much dread as Ian made his way north.

Emily is surrounded by people to help her. She is surrounded by her people, and now it’s clear that she has invited another man into her life. We find out who that is, and we get to see that pang of jealousy that Ian gets, which is only natural.

This chapter brings us a few things for Young Ian and Rachel, including the naming of Oggy. It also looks like Young Ian and Rachel’s family is going to quickly grow.

I would love to see this chapter used in the TV series. Whether it will or not is another thing, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section of this post.

It doesn’t really foreshadow much, though. I do feel like this chapter is about bringing closure, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 87.
