Ian talks of a ‘prophecy’ in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 86

There is talk of the war that is happening around them in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 86. Young Ian shares a “prophecy,” but will it do any good?

This chapter has two big things happening around the hunt for the injured moose. The first is that Young Ian wants to make sure the Mohawk are on the right side of the war. The problem is they are with the British right now. Ian knows how the Revolutionary War will play out because of Claire.

I love that we continue to get this reminder that the Mohawk are spiritual people. They believing in Seers and walking with spirits. Young Ian can use that to help him get his point across.

The chapter then moves onto Young Ian and Gabriel talking to each other. Gabriel has questions about why Silvia was with the Murrays. Of course, Young Ian manages to get a few digs in there about how Gabriel left his family behind.

I doubt this chapter will be used in full in the adaptation. This chapter was sort of used by Jamie when it came to getting the Cherokee on his side during Outlander Season 6. I’ll get to my thoughts on it all in the adaptation section.

As for foreshadowing, I think it’s more about showing that history isn’t always something that you can change. However, I think it also foreshadows the trouble to come with another time traveler. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 86.
