Ron D. Moore is still set to bring us an adaptation of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Here’s what we know about the fantasy series so far.

Can you believe it’s been two years since we heard that Outlander‘s Ron D. Moore was taking on the fantasy book series A Court of Thorns and Roses and bringing it to our screens? He is doing it with the book author Sarah J. Maas, and there’s no doubt that fans are excited.

And yet, here we are, two years later with questions. Is this even still happening? What’s the hold up? Here’s everything we know about the series adaptation so far.

Is A Court of Thorns and Roses still happening?

Is the TV show dead in the water? Well, according to TVLine, no. The series is, in fact, still in development. Moore says it himself.

The hold up is linked to all sorts of production issues. The main one is casting. Moore says that while there are some scripts written, there has been a halt on the writing of them while they find out if they have a cast for the series.

Why is it taking so long to find actors?

Moore hasn’t given a reason for the delay in finding actors for the series. It could be that this is such a big production that it’s hard to find the right person to play the lead roles. These characters need to be perfect for the book fans. We’ve seen with Outlander how awful some fans can be if the casting isn’t just right.

There is also the chance that the current strike action also caused problems. As a Hulu show, A Court of Thorns and Roses is likely a SAG show. That means that actors couldn’t apply for work during the SAG-AFTRA strike action.

Stargirl lead Brec Bassinger has made it clear that she would love to be in the series. She doesn’t care which role she gets. She’s a huge fan of the books and wants to be in the show.

Where will ACOTAR air?

The series is still set to go to Hulu. There has been no word on it moving to a broadcast network. That wouldn’t make sense if a streamer had already picked it up.

What is A Court of Thorns and Roses about?

The books follow Feyre, a huntress who kills a wolf in the woods at the age of 19. The wolf returns demanding retribution, and Feyre finds herself in a magical land where she needs to figure out how to survive. She also learns that the wolf is Tamlin, one of the immortal and lethal faeries who once ruled their world.

Of course, there is a romance within the drama and fantasy. Feyre’s feelings for Tamlin transform, as she starts to feel a burning passion for him. The more she feels, the more she realizes that she’s been told multiple lies about the Fae. And now there’s a threat against the Fae, and it’s up to Feyre to save Tamlin and his world.
