There is a surprise reunion in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 84

We get a surprise but short-lived reunion in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 84. It leads to Ian and Rachel catching each other up on events.

The chapter starts with Rachel needing to excuse herself so that she can relieve the milk in her breasts as nobody knows where Oggy is with the babysitter at the moment. However, this moment leads to the surprise reunion.

It turns out that Silvia’s husband has been with the Mohawk. Siliva and Gabriel run into each other, but the reunion is not a happy one. It is clear that this is a marriage that will not work, and it’ll be interesting in what this means for Silvia going forward.

When Rachel gets back to Ian, it’s clear that other things have happened. The two catch each other up on events, and Ian ends up having to go and find Silvia.

This chapter is really more of a filler to add some drama for Silvia, in my opinion. It foreshadows little, but allows for some plot to grow. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

I doubt the chapter will be used in the TV series. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
