Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter brings the Hardmans to the Murrays. Of course, Jenny doesn’t bat an eyelid when she sees the family come for help. This isn’t her first rodeo. While Rachel doesn’t bat an eyelid to help, she does note that Young Ian smells of blood. She ignores that, though.

Young Ian does explain the situation to everyone. It’s clear that Silvia is going a little hysterical at the entire situation. Jenny comforts her, but it’s clear that Silvia isn’t used to this type of care. She and her daughters have had to rely on only each other for so long.

At the end of this short chapter, Silvia asks Rachel if she believes in angels. She thinks that Jamie and Ian are angels, and Rachel comments that the two would probably take offense at being called that. They are far from angels—she clearly doesn’t remember that angels were soldiers of the Lord.

Silvia points out that God clearly has a plan for the two men. It’s such a brilliant response, and shows how grateful Silvia is despite not being used to this treatment from people.
