The Murrays help the Hardmans in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 78
Young Ian gets to Rachel and Jenny with the Hardman family in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 78. We get to see how the two women react differently to Young Ian’s story.
I love seeing how different Jenny and Rachel are. The two get along so well, but they also have very different upbringings and experiences in life. They have different religious beliefs, which should make them on opposite sides of everything, yet they both have warm hearts.
We get to see that when Young Ian turns up with the Hardman family. He explains what happened to them, and Rachel ignores the scent of blood on her husband. After all, these women and girls need help.
This chapter doesn’t really foreshadow all that much. I think it’s focused on how strangers can be more welcoming than one’s own community. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.
As for the adaptation, I doubt we’ll see this chapter used in the TV series. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
