Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV+ has come to an end. Is there hope for more to this story, or was it just a limited series?

You have likely followed the story of Elizabeth Zott in Lessons in Chemistry. This started off as a story about a female chemist in the 1950s who faced discrimination due to falling pregnant. However, her brilliant mind led to her landing a TV gig, and that gig gave her the chance to teach many others chemistry through baking.

We also got the story of her daughter, Mad, who went on a journey to find out more about her father. Elizabeth’s lover, Calvin, died in a tragic accident and even Elizabeth didn’t really know all that much about him. The finale brought that story to a beautiful and tear-jerking conclusion.

Will Lessons in Chemistry Season 2 happen?

Apple TV+ hasn’t announced a second season yet, and it’s highly unlikely that it will. This series was billed as a limited series from the beginning. After all, it is based on the book of the same name by Bonnie Garmus, and there isn’t a sequel to that story.

The series itself was a complete story. While there were some substantial changes to the book story, those changes didn’t distract from the story that was being told on the screen. We saw events from multiple points of view, and we got a deeper understanding of how our pasts shape who we become.

As much as we would love to see Brie Larson continue on as Elizabeth Zott, that only makes sense if there is more to tell. That’s not the case with Lessons in Chemistry, so it’s best to leave it the way that it is with the intended series finale.
