The Buccaneers is a fun historical drama to check out on Apple TV+ right now. Is this something to watch with the kids around, or should you wait for them to go to bed?

If you’re in the mood for a more modern style of historical fiction, then you’ll want to turn to The Buccaneers on Apple TV+. It’s not so modern like Reign where the costumes don’t fit the time period at all, but it does have a slightly more lighter tone to it than a lot of other historical dramas.

The first four episodes are now available to stream. The series is at the halfway point, and there’s no doubt that you’ll want to catch up and be able to watch the episodes each week. The question now is whether you need to wait for the kids to go to bed or not.

The Buccaneers age rating

While Apple TV+ tends to opt for TV-MA for its shows, this is one that has a slightly lower age rating. The Buccaneers is officially rated as TV-14 on the streamer. In Canada, it also has a 14+ rating.

This means that it is suitable for teenagers. There isn’t a lot of nudity or violence, nor is there a lot of drug use and swearing. There may be some minor swear words and the illusion of sexual scenes, but there is nothing in your face. Think of it like a PG-13 movie.

What about younger children, though? This is something that you’ll want to look at first. It all depends on your children and what they may find interesting. A show like this probably isn’t something on their radar, to be honest. I know it wouldn’t be for my younger children. However, it could be something for those interested in history and how things have changed for women.
