Ian and his family part ways with Jamie in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 64

It’s time for Ian and his family to head north and for Jamie to return to Fraser’s Ridge in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 64. There are some things to do first.

There are some parts of this chapter that I both love and hate. I love how Young Ian is able to keep the peace between his mother and his wife. It’s not that the two don’t like each other, but they had different opinions of survival and life. Young Ian has made some changes to be the man Rachel wants him to be, but he is still his mother’s son.

The part that I don’t like at all is where Young Ian tells Rachel what happened to Claire. I know that Rachel isn’t going to judge, but this is something that Claire should choose to tell. It’s not up to anyone else. Yes, this is a different time period, but there was still no real need for Young Ian to go into the details.

Jamie’s part of the chapter is the one that intrigues me the most. I think it sets up some plot or maybe there’s foreshadowing in that part, and I’ll discuss that in the foreshadowing section.

I’m in two minds about whether this chapter will be used in the TV series, though. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 64.
