Claire gets a visit from Mrs. Cunningham in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 63

With Jamie and Ian’s family away, Claire is left alone in the new Big House in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 63. She’s not alone for too long, though.

To be honest, she’s not completely alone anyway. Fanny is there to keep her company, and it’s clear that Fanny has a lot to learn. She also has a lot to share. I love seeing Fanny come out of her shell and learn that she is part of the Fraser clan now.

The two aren’t alone for too long. Mrs. Cunningham visits in need of medical attention. This chapter shows us that two people can be on opposite sides, but can also be respectful. I’m curious if Claire didn’t know how history would play out, which side would she actually be on? We know Jamie would have likely remained on the Loyalist side, so would Claire have followed?

The chapter doesn’t foreshadow too much. It tells us a little more about Captain Cunningham and reminds us of the coming war, but that’s really it.

I don’t think it will be adapted for the TV series, though. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section of the post.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 63.
