Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jamie seeing the body that Locke has. At first, Jamie thinks that it is the man who raped Claire; the man Jamie killed. Later, Ian goes to see the body, and he has the initial thought, too. However, Jamie and Young Ian agree that this is not the same man.

This leads to a conversation about how Ian was ready to do what needed to be done had Jamie asked of him. He realized that Jamie was taking care of it, though, and simply said the prayer for the warrior as Jamie went off that day.

The conversation then moves on to the Battle of Monmouth, when Young Ian was injured. Jamie feared that William was bringing Young Ian’s body, and Ian shares that he spoke to his father while in the hazy state. Jamie makes it clear that Ian Murray is always with him.

Finally, Jamie gets the chance to ask Young Ian of one thing, but he doesn’t want Young Ian to feel obligated. Jamie has read Frank’s book, and there are mentions of Jamie Frasers. Jamie realizes that Frank found out Bree likely goes back in time and wanted to research Jamie in particular. A Jamie Fraser is going to die at Kings Mountain, and Jamie believes that it is going to be him. He would like Young Ian with him at the time.

Young Ian promises to make it back in time for that. He won’t let his uncle go into what could be his last battle alone.
