Young Ian prepares for his journey in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 59

It’s almost time for Young Ian to head north with Jenny and Rachel in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 59. Before he does that, he needs to see Claire and Jamie.

I love the bond that has formed between Young Ian and the Frasers. He has lived with them for so long. Ian helped Jamie with the smuggling back in Edinburgh, and he was the first one to be excited that Claire was back (well, after Jamie, of course!). Ian has turned to them for advice and has learned their secrets, it’s only natural that this bond will have formed.

So, it’s not surprising to see him visit them individually to get some advice, some supplies, and take requests from the two of them. Claire’s request always surprises me at first, but then I remember why she made the request. I’ll break that down in the foreshadowing section. There is a bit of foreshadowing in this chapter.

If the whole of Ian’s storyline plays out in the series, I expect some of this chapter to be used. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 59.
