Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Rachel going to see Jenny. The two of them are discussing what’s to come.

Rachel notes that Jenny has a lot of Quaker qualities. Jenny is honest and compassionate, but she’s also fearless and kind. Jenny interjects with some humor when it comes to being fearless considering how scared she felt when her mother died.

Rachel notes that Jenny was scared of losing her father and brother at the same time. This is after Jenny notes that she feared she wouldn’t be able to fill her mother’s place. Rachel notes that men seem to handle loss differently.

Now it’s time for Rachel to tell Jenny about Ian’s plan to go north. Ian needs to find out what happened to Emily, and Rachel shares that she will go with her husband. Jenny doesn’t argue back about this. She knows that Rachel needs to go. This is something that surprises Rachel as it’s a dangerous trek. It’s also something that hurts her a little as it is dangerous. Does Jenny not care? After all, Jenny had just said that parents always worry about their children, even when they’re grown.
