Rachel and Jenny share a heart to heart in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 56

We pick up off the back of Rachel realizing that Ian needs to go in search of Emily. Rachel turns to Jenny for some guidance in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 56.

One thing that I adore about this chapter is that we get to see the type of relationship Rachel and Jenny are forming. It’s easy to forget about some of the not-so-main characters, even though their developments are important.

We don’t get much of it in this chapter, but we get enough. We get to see how Jenny isn’t that stereotypical mother-in-law we see in fiction now. She cares about her son’s wife, but she is also still steadfast and honest.

The chapter continues the plot for Rachel and Ian, but it doesn’t really foreshadow all that much. I think it’s more of a look at how this is something Rachel has to do.

I would love to see it used in the TV series. Something I really want to see is Jenny and Rachel’s relationship grow.
