Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Rachel waking up to Ian with his hand over her mouth. He is telling her to be quiet, and she blinks to show that she understands. Ian listens for the noise that woke him, and it’s not dangerous.

It turns out that its some Mohawks. They have traveled to Ian with some bad news. There was a raid on the Mohawk settlement that Emily was on, and now nobody knows where she and her children are. The Mohawks stay for a few days, and then they head off.

Ian and Rachel have a chance to talk about Emily. Ian admits that he does still think of her and that he believes Swiftest of Lizards may be his son. Rachel realizes that Ian needs to go out to find Emily, and as much as it hurts her to realize this, she knows that they have to go together.

I adore Rachel in this moment. She understands what happened between Ian and Emily, and she knows that Ian loves Rachel with all his heart. She’s so selfless and loving, and I just want to wrap her up in a warm hug for what she’s willing to do here.
