Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire and Jamie being woken in the middle of the night by Agnes Cloudtree. They need to get to Agnes’s mother, who is having a difficult childbirth.

When they get there, they see a Cherokee man slap Agnes to find out where she was. Claire chooses to ignore that, pushing past to get to Susannah. That’s when Claire realizes that Susannah is pregnant with twins and that the babies are tangled together. She can get them out with a c-section, but it will kill her.

Susannah chooses her babies, and Claire gets ready to cut. Just as she’s about to, there’s a strong contraction and a baby boy is born. The boy is fine, but Claire needs to pull the other baby out, which is stillborn. It’s clear that Claire and Jamie are thinking about Faith as they look down at this baby.

Claire refuses to let this baby remain stillborn, though. She thinks about Dr. McEwan and about Malva and her unborn baby. Claire is able to bring out a blue light, bringing the child to life.

When they get outside, Claire asks about the color of her hair. It turns out that it’s now the color of the moonlight, which I would assume that means white.
