The Gathering 2023: What should you wear to the Outlander convention?

With The Gathering 2023 just around the corner, you’ll be looking at what to take with you. One of the questions is what you’ll wear for the event.

Outlander conventions are a lot of fun. The Gathering 2023 is just around the corner, and this is one you will not want to miss out on. There is a great lineup of guests, with some newer ones added just recently.

It’s a long weekend of activities, though. That’s something to keep in mind when it comes to packing. You’ll also want to make sure you’re ready for the changes in temperature around the museum.

Remain comfortable throughout The Gathering 2023

The best thing that I can recommend is that you wear something that is comfortable. Some people will still wear fancy outfits, but they are comfortable ones that they’ve worn before. A lot of people will stick to leggings/pants and T-shirts or tank tops.

Comfortable shoes are a must. There is some standing when you’re waiting in line for the photo ops and autographs. You’ll also want to make sure that you’re not wearing something that starts to rub during the weekend and causes blisters. I find sneakers as the best option, but ballet flats are also popular with many people.

Make sure you have a layer

For most of the event, you’ll be warm. The seating area where everyone hangs out and chats gets warm with all the bodies in the room. However, there are a couple of areas where you’ll want to have a sweater or something for.

The hallway where the vendors are and where the lineup for the autographs and photos tends to be on the chilly side. Make sure you have something for this. The room where the panels are held is also somewhere that tends to get chilly and I always make sure I have a sweater for in there.

Take something to get dressed up in

There are a couple of nights where you may want to get dressed up. The first is for Fraser’s Ridge ticket holders. You’ll be able to go to the Friday night event to meet the cast. A few people tend to get dressed up for this. You’ll need to take your outfit to the museum with you when you head there from the beginning as there isn’t much time to get changed.

On the Saturday night, you’ll be able to head back to your hotel. In fact, you have to leave the building at one point. You can then grab something to eat and get changed ready for the Saturday night events. It doesn’t matter what tier you have or if you got a ticket for the evening’s activity or not, there is a reason to get dressed up. It’s all about the After Party!

Can you wear cosplay at The Gathering 2023?

There were years when there was a cosplay competition. You can still dress up if you would like, but there is not going to be a cosplay competition this year.

However, there are a few people who will go as Claire in her various outfits throughout the seasons. Maybe you want to show off your Jenny side or your Marsali side.

Something to note is that this is best only for the Saturday night. When it comes to your photos, there are some strict rules due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike. While Outlander is not a SAG show, there are some rules that the actors are following to stand in solidarity with their colleagues who are in the middle of the strike.
