William learns more about the letter about Ben’s death in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 44

We jump back to William and Lord John Grey in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 44. After all, they still need to figure out the truth about Ben.

This is the point in the story where I started to question things about Amaranthus. Something seemed off in the way she acted around William, and I certainly think that it foreshadows some things to come. I’m going to talk more about that in the foreshadowing section.

The chapter itself is more focused on getting some answers. We find out more about how Captain Richardson learned of Benjamin Grey’s death. We also learn a little more about a spy who was supposed to be hanged. It’s clear that Richardson has been on the side of the rebels for a while.

We have a mention of what seems to be another real person in history, Haym Soloman. It’s just that reminder yet again that Diana Gabaldon does her research.

Will the chapter be used in the TV series? This I’m not sure of. I’ll get to my thoughts on it in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 44.
