Just the Outlander chapter

We learn that people attend all three services at the church, including Rachel’s. This is for a variety of reasons, including boredom.

Jamie and Claire attend all services to show neutrality. This is also a chance for Claire to offer her healing help for the people of the Ridge.

At the end of one service, Jamie decides to stand up and speak—with permission from Captain Cunningham, of course. He shares news of an uprising in Savannah and militia building to drive out the rebels. Jamie makes his side of the war clear but also states that he will not drive people away from the Ridge. He will just do what it takes to protect the people, and that includes building his own militia. He shares that anyone is welcome to join.

He does the same at Roger’s service, and we see plenty of men immediately stand to join Jamie. Of course, the women are worried, and Claire shares that she will make sure the women are protected if the men go off.

What about at Rachel’s service? Jamie says that he will pray for forgiveness during that one. He also notes that people aren’t coming to the Lodge as much anymore, so the services were the only time he could talk to everyone at the Ridge.
