Outlander Book Club: Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 42 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter starts with Jamie getting the letter from Lord John Grey. Jamie is angry. He makes a comment that John wanted his son, then his wife, and now his daughter. It’s an outburst that is so understandable considering everything Jamie is feeling right now.
Claire does call Jamie out, though. She makes it clear that John wants Bree to help William with his direction in life. It’s clear that William is struggling, and maybe Bree can help with that. She has personal experience in finding out that her father isn’t her father.
When Bree learns about the request, she wants to go. It takes some time, but she even figures out a way to get around going to Savannah. Fergus needs money to buy guns and Germain needs to go back to his family. At the same time, Roger still needs to be ordained. Bree and Roger can take everything to Fergus and then head to Savannah. She can get the Duke of Pardloe to give her a safe-pass.
Jamie doesn’t really like it but he knows it’s the best option. However, he makes it clear that he will not allow Bree to bring the guns that Fergus buys back to the Ridge. Someone else will need to do that.
