Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter is mostly about the letter that Brianna is writing to Lord John Grey. She tells him about Denny being held prisoner. She also lets John know that he must understand why Claire and Jamie haven’t written to him about it.

Of course, she also lets him know that she is back after three years of being away. This leads to us getting the reminder that the last time Bree saw John was three years ago in Wilmington. She met William, and she wanted William to know the truth about his family. Lord John Grey didn’t think that it would be a good idea.

I sometimes think that William’s reaction was due to the way that he found out. Had someone sat down and explained it to him in a calm and rational way, the truth may have been a little easier to take. Instead, he found out and went down a rabbit hole of stress and questions. Brianna was given the chance to learn the truth in a calmer way, and while she initially reacted in anger, she was able to accept it a little quicker—of course, seeing time travel being real helped with that!

Brianna also sends some drawings of the new house to John. We get this reminder of their bond. They enjoyed each others company when they were engaged to each other, and now they have a great friendship, which helps to keep the letter light.
