During Outlander Season 4, Bree and Lord John Grey were engaged. Did they end up marrying? What was that whole storyline about?
There is a lot that goes on in the world of Outlander. Whether it’s books or show, there are a lot of storylines that connect together and then there are events that happen and then seem to be forgotten about afterward.
One that will stand out for some fans is Brianna and Lord John Grey getting engaged in Outlander Season 4. It was something that infuriated Forbes, leading to him attempt to steal Jocasta’s money and arrange for Brianna to be kidnapped and sold. However, did the two go through with the marriage?
Lord John Grey and Bree did not marry in Outlander
They didn’t go through with the wedding. That was never the plan when they did get engaged.
Brianna was scared. She was pregnant, had no idea where Roger was, and men wanted to propose to her. She didn’t want any of this, so she found a way to keep herself safe. After learning that John is gay, she decides to blackmail him.
She could have never gone through the with blackmail. John knew that. However, he could see why she did what she did, and he decided that it could be a good idea for him to propose and for her to accept it. They would keep their engagement long, allowing time for Jamie to get back with Roger.
When Roger returned and made it clear that he wanted to be with Bree and the baby, Lord John Grey’s engagement to Bree was called off. There was no shame in this for either of them. However, they did end up with a great friendship as they found they enjoyed each other’s company.
