Just the Outlander chapter

The people of the Ridge gather as they lay Amy to rest. Roger leads the funeral service, and it’s clear that there are a lot of people mourning Amy’s death. While the initial shock has worn off, there is still that loss of a valued member of the Ridge.

Bree and Rachel decide that they need to stay with Bobby for the day. He is feeling this loss harder than anyone—except maybe Amy’s sons. They worry about what he’ll do, whether on purpose or by accident.

During the service, Claire thinks about her death. She realizes that she’d be happy to be buried at the Ridge, where she will be surrounded by friends and family. Jamie is also clearly thinking about death, as he grabs Claire’s face at one point as if to commit all her features to memory. Who knows when your last day is?

Claire needs to get to her garden. She tries to make some excuses for it, but Jamie soon realizes that her garden is where she needs to go for her own peace. So, off she goes, which is where she can tell the bees all about Amy’s death. This is something JQM told her to do, but I also think that it’s therapeutic for her to relive it and allow the bees to carry Amy’s memory around the Ridge and beyond.
