The men hunt, while the women prepare in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 28

We continue the aftermath of the bear attack on Amy in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 28. While Claire and the women prepare Amy’s body for burial, the men head out to hunt the bear.

This chapter jumps between Claire and Jamie as we get a look at everything that has to go on in tandem. Claire needs to keep working on Amy’s body, and there’s a beautiful moment between her and Mrs. Cunningham. One of the things that I love about this chapter is getting to know Mrs. Cunningham more and seeing that there is a softness to her.

Then there’s Jamie’s part. He needs to make sure Bobby stays home. As much as he knows that Bobby will want to hunt the bear, the man could put too many people at risk. It’s best he stays with Amy’s younger boys, his step-sons.

This chapter doesn’t foreshadow too much. It continues this focus on how the Ridge comes together in a time of need, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

I still don’t see this chapter being used in the TV series. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 28.
