Outlander Season 8: Claire and Jamie’s story will end on a ‘high’

All good things come to an end, and we know that Outlander Season 8 is going to be the last. How will it all end for Claire and Jamie?

From the beginning of Outlander, it’s all been about Claire and Jamie’s love story. This is more than a simple romance, but a story that spreads across decades, continents, and time. Of course, there are a lot of questions about how their story will come to an end.

Outlander Season 8 is going to be the last. We also know that right now Book 10 is set to be the last—although, Diana Gabaldon did say that about previous books and then kept going. Eventually, we need to say goodbye to Claire and Jamie, and there are many who fear that the whole thing will end with the two of them dying.

Matt B. Roberts talks about Outlander Season 8

While speaking on the official podcast for the series, showrunner Matt B. Roberts talked about the series and the ending. One thing he shared was that Claire and Jamie’s story will end “on a high.”

What does that mean? He didn’t elaborate, but we could look at this as a good thing. It likely means that the two are going to end up in a happy place. Is that dying in each other’s arms like The Notebook? Maybe, but it could just mean that we’re left with Claire and Jamie watching on as their grandchildren play, surrounded by their family. There could just be hope for peace after decades of strife and pain.

We know Claire and Jamie deserve peace. They’ve been separated for 20 years, failed to prevent Culloden from happening, and are now in the middle of the American Revolutionary War. Claire has been tried as a witch and almost tried as a murderer, while Jamie has been flogged, raped, and almost killed by a goddamn snake. The two need to see happiness and peace at the end of Outlander Season 8.
