Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Jemmy waking Claire up. Fanny has had her first period, and now she’s terrified. This means that she can be put to work.

When Jamie arrives, he consoles Fanny as she shares why Jane killed Captain Harkness. Claire tells Jamie everything Fanny worries about in French so Fanny doesn’t realize what they’re speaking about. It’s later that Jamie makes it clear to Fanny that she will never be taken against her will by anyone while he lives.

Claire takes Jemmy off as he starts to have questions about who Jane was and what happened to her. Claire tells him, but she doesn’t want Jemmy to tell Bree that he knows. I really dislike asking him to keep this secret.

While Jem is only 10, he has a good understanding of the entire situation. At first, I was surprised by this, but now I think of how my 11-year-old understands situations. It shouldn’t be that surprising, especially considering how much Jem has time-traveled and had to understand.

During the chapter, Claire sees a locket that Fanny has. It has a portrait of her mother, and Claire notices the name “Faith.” Claire goes to sleep with thoughts of Stephen Bonnet, her Faith, Master Raymond, and so much more. Jamie wakes from her own musings, so the two chat about it.

Claire brings up the blue light and how Master Raymond was there to save her. Is it possible that he saved Faith? Is it possible that their Faith is Jane and Fanny’s mother? Then she has another thought. Is it possible that she and Master Raymond are related in some way?
