The Kingdom 2023: Pop-up panels were not to be missed
The Kingdom 2023 worked in ways to keep everyone excited and busy. One of those ways was through pop-up panels throughout the weekend.
With bigger conventions, there is always something to do. You may head to a panel for an hour and then take a look around the big vendor area for another hour. After that, there may be another panel that you want to see, or maybe it’s time for your photo ops and autographs with your favorite stars.
A smaller convention like The Kingdom 2023 doesn’t have as much going on. This is how these events become something different. There’s a chance to get to know fellow attendees and new members will always find a group welcoming them in. But it can feel like there’s nothing to do sometimes.
Sasnak City tries to prevent that with some events going on. One of those is the pop-up panels. These were highly popular and successful at The Gathering 2022, so it’s no surprise that they came back in The Kingdom 2023.
What happens at the pop-up panels at The Kingdom 2023?
There were a few pop-up panels throughout the weekend. If you weren’t in the seating area, you’d miss out on a lot. Of course, that can’t be helped if you’re in a Meet & Greet!
This year was a little different to many others. With the SAG-AFTRA strike, the questions had to be limited or reworked. It wasn’t possible to talk about the show or the characters. Instead, questions were aimed at acting in general.
In a way, the event was so much better without the focus on the show. It gave us, as fans, a chance to get to know the actors on a more human level. There were questions about favorite weird foods, favorite quotes, and just general advice about acting or life. It’s not often that we get to hear about actors’ personal lives (for good reason), but these events make the cast members feel a little more comfortable in opening up about things. There’s nothing on a detailed level, but it’s enough for us to learn more about who they are.
Hopefully, next year, there will be discussions about the show and the characters as well. However, we stand in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA even though The Last Kingdom wasn’t a SAG show, and so do the actors.
Keep an eye on Sasnak City for the latest details about upcoming events.
