Are you looking for something else to watch as you get through another Droughtlander? Turn: Washington’s Spies is a must-watch series for Outlander fans.

Droughtlander is here. Again. We just get into a flow of new episodes and we end up back on another break.

The good news is there are a lot of other shows to keep us occupied. If you’re looking for something that is set during the same time period as Outlander, you’ll want to turn to an AMC series from 2014 to 2017. It stars Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell, and it is all about the Revolutionary War.

Yes, Turn: Washington’s Spies is the series for today. There are four seasons to get through, so it’s going to take some time.

What is Turn: Washington’s Spies about?

The title of the series does give some of it away. It’s about a group of spies for Washington during the American Revolutionary War. However, this isn’t about what they did as the spies toward the end of the war. It’s about them becoming spies for Washington.

The story starts in 1776 and follows a farmer in Setauket, New York and his childhood friends. The Americans have declared war against the Crown, and Washington’s rebels have been forced into the wilderness. New York City is the military base of operations for the British, but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to be ruled by the Crown any longer.

Abraham Woodhull and his friends frm the Culper Ring. They are an unlikely group of spies, who help to turn the tide for the American Revolutionary War. The first episode starts in October 1776 and we see the story all the way through to 1781.

Why Turn: Washington’s Spies is a must during Droughtlander

There are a few things that make this a great option during Droughtlander. The first is the time period. Outlander is now in the middle of the Revolutionary War. We’ve seen the Battles of Saratoga and there will be more to come. Wouldn’t it be nice to know what else was happening at the time?

Yes, Turn is loosely based on real history. It still has enough fact to carry it. Plus, it offers some intriguing storylines for each of the characters.

It’s also based on a book. It’s based on Washington’s Spies: The Story of America’s First Spy Ring by Alexander Rose. The book is also loosely based on historical events, enough to bring the story o life. After all, we’re never going to know everything that happened as not everything in life has been recorded.

This series comes to an end. The fourth season was renewed as the final season. There are 40 episodes to work your way through, and you don’t need to worry about wondering “well, what next?”
