It’s time for Bree to meet Rachel in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 4

I love that the first thing Bree wants to do is to meet Rachel in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 4. This isn’t to judge or to make sure this woman is “suitable” for her cousin, but just to meet her and welcome her to the family.

It’s an adorable moment. We all knew that Bree would love Rachel. There is nothing to hate about this woman. In fact, I see a lot of Bree and Claire in her in the way that Rachel is a modern woman who isn’t just going to stay home and look after the children—although she will do that in some way.

Bree sees the love between Ian and Rachel. Considering we know the two of them do love each other, I love that we get to see that from another character’s perspective. After all, Bree knows nothing about the woman.

I don’t spot too much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. There is a bit about naming baby Oggy, but that’s it. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

I expect to see this chapter used in the TV series. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 4.
