Claire got angry with Jamie again in Outlander Season 7, Episode 8. Here are her three best moments from the midseason finale.
When it comes to Claire, she gets angry for reasons that don’t always make sense to people. I can relate to her, though. Her anger toward Jamie at the start of this anger comes from a mixture of fear and relief. Jamie is safe, so now she gets to be angry that he put his life in danger. It’s not like Jamie hasn’t been angry with her in the past for the same reasons.
That didn’t stop Claire from being compassionate in the right moments. She was also there for Jamie when he needed her the most. It’s time to look back at the moments in this episode to pick out Claire’s best ones in the order that they happened.
Claire’s best moments in Outlander Season 7, Episode 8
Saving Jamie on the battlefield
I adore that Claire kept her promise to go looking for Jamie on the battlefield when he didn’t return. She got out there at the right time. Looters were out there, and they were going to kill Jamie. However, Claire stopped them.
Once she did make sure that Jamie was safe, she could allow her fear to release in the form of anger. You could tell that Jamie didn’t take it all that seriously. He knew she wasn’t actually angry at him and that it was really all fear. That’s when he knows he’s going to be okay.
With all that over, Claire could get to work on fixing Jamie’s hand. She wouldn’t leave him without a working hand.
Words of comfort to Denny
With people coming from the battlefield injured, the surgeons got to work. Denny found Claire and shared just how hard the day was for him. He’d lost more patients than ever in one day. How does Claire do it time and time again?
Claire offered Denny the words he needed to hear. Sure, losing patients is hard, but think of the people saved because of them. Without them around, the death toll would have been higher.
Claire is certainly a great mentor for Denny. Will we get to see more of them? Is that it for Claire and Jamie’s time in America? We’ll need to wait for Outlander Season 7B to find out.
Her reaction toward Benedict Arnold
When a Patriot officer asks to trade, Claire doesn’t think too much of it. Nor does she even ask his name or rank. After all, this man simply came up with a need in mind and was nice about it all. And I love the discussion that they have about a surgeon’s limitations potentially holding the surgeon back.
Well, it turned out that he is Benedict Arnold. The look on Claire’s face was priceless. She knows who he is from history, and now she gets to meet him in person. It took me back to Outlander Season 4 when she met George Washington.
It’s all followed up with Benedict Arnold getting injured. Claire is the one treating him, and he fears that this is it. His name will never be remembered. Claire doesn’t tell him why he’ll be remembered, but she tells him what he needs to hear at the time: his name will go down in history.
