Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Roger taking Mandy to the privy and then finding Bobby and Amy. He wants to know about the new people at the Ridge. He’ll need to visit them and introduce himself since he plans to go back to being a minister.

Bree has gone hunting with Jamie. While they’re walking around, they head to Ian’s cabin. Nobody is home, which is a bit of a disappointment. Bree really wanted to see her cousin and meet his wife. She is also excited to see Jenny again.

There is a moment where I’m not sure if it’s just something not fully mentioned in the books or some forgetfulness. Jamie and Bree talk about the letters, but Bree doesn’t know some of the information in some of them. She had no idea that Jenny was at the Ridge. Is it possible that she didn’t read all the letters? She didn’t want to get through them all from what I remember, and with everything going on with Roger in the past and needing to leave Lallybroch, there’s a chance Bree didn’t get through all of them.

The two do come across Ian in the woods, who says that he hit a deer. Ian and Bree end up going off to unsuccessfully shoot some turkeys while Jamie deals with the deer. However, a bear sound distracts them and has them running back to Jamie. Apart from some scratches, Jamie is okay, but the deer has been claimed by the bear.

They need to wait for the bear to leave, though. Jamie’s shoe and rifle are with the deer.

While they wait, Bree finds time to tell the two men about Rob Cameron. Jamie realizes that Rob likely read the letters. That means there’s a chance that someone will be after the gold.
