Outlander Season 7, Episode 4 brought us new characters and a new time period. Here’s a look at the live ratings from the episode.
Every now and then, we see a surge of people watching Outlander live on the linear channel. This episode was one of those episodes, with both the demo and the total audience ticking up.
It could be the fact that this episode pushed us fully into the seventh book of the series. We got to see more of William, meet Captain Richardson, and meet the Hunters. All these characters play some important roles as the series progresses.
We also got a different time period. Roger and Bree’s story jumped ahead two years to 1980. This brought with it Bree returning to work and the mention of a mysterious nuckelavee.
The episode itself likely pulled in from younger viewers. After all, I have found that Roger and Bree’s story connects more with the younger viewers than Claire and Jamie’s does now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. To each their own, right? This is what’s so great about Outlander. There is a storyline for everyone.
Outlander Season 7, Episode 4 live ratings
Let’s take a look at the live ratings. The demo saw a 200% upward tick from the previous episode. This is the 18-49-year-olds, so it is rather telling that the introduction of new characters and the jump to 1980 is pulling younger people in.
The total audience jumped up 86%. This is the highest audience of the whole season so far, even as we look ahead at the next three episodes! There is no doubt that something about the promotion has caught the attention of people.
This doesn’t discount the people who watch on the app. In fact, the people who watch on the app arguably count more as they’re paying for the direct subscription instead of through a cable provider. It’s just pointing out that something about the push into the new storylines has helped the viewership.
