We get to the final chapter of Outlander Book 8 with Chapter 145

The end of Outlander Book 8 brings some closure, but a push for a new storyline in the future. After all, we know there is another book.

The chapter itself helps to confirm something. Jamie did learn about who Claire saw at the Beardsley Trading Post, and he wasn’t going to let this man go without answering for his crimes. We don’t need all the details in this moment. We just need to know that Jamie has done what he believes should have been done.

Claire doesn’t argue with him. Instead, she focuses on what’s to come and the arrival of Young Ian’s baby. They are both cut off anyway with the arrival of a family at the Ridge. This isn’t just any family, though.

The chapter itself is pushing us into the ninth book. It sets up one big storyline: the return of the MacKenzies. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

As for whether it will be used in the TV series, I think the ending certainly will. We don’t need the moment about Claire’s rapist. Instead, we just need the moment of the MacKenzies returning.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 145.
