The chapter starts with Claire going to see Rachel. I just love how open Rachel is. She knows that she can trust Claire, and I guess some of that is from being around doctors her whole life. We have to remember that she is the niece and sister of surgeons. She knows what surgeons need to know, and she knows that she can be open with them.

It’s clear that Rachel is going to give birth any day now. This leads to Claire to think about Marsali, who will have likely given birth by now. The family is just waiting for word about that.

That night, Claire and Jamie decide to take some blankets to where their new house will be. They have a quiet moment together, which involves them falling sleep under the stars. Claire wakes from an erotic dream, and it doesn’t take long for Jamie to follow and the two make love. There is some humor within the romance, which I love to see for the two of them. Their bond hasn’t changed.

The next morning, Claire wakes to find that Jamie has gone. It’s time to start another day.
