Claire and Jamie discuss the new house in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 142

It’s clear with Outlander Book 8, Chapter 142 that we’re getting closer and closer to the end of the book. While there is a threat of things to come, the chapter is tidying up some loose ends.

Jamie and Claire have some lighter moments in this chapter. It’s a chance to discuss the new home and the layout of it. We also get a sense that there is something coming. Jamie feels like it’s something to do with the war, but we know what’s really playing on Claire’s mind.

You see, Claire is attempting to forgive, but it only works when she’s distracted. And she is throwing herself in some distracting techniques, such as coming up with a medicine for ailments in the past.

This chapter certainly foreshadows some things to come, but only in the sense of a feeling. I’ll talk about that in the foreshadowing section of the post.

I do expect to see some of this chapter used in the TV series. I’ll get to why and the parts that I think will show up in the adaptation section.
