Claire and Jamie return home in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 137

Claire’s happiness goes up the closer she gets to home in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 137. It’s clear that she’s happiest when there’s peace.

Claire and Jamie make it back to the trail to Fraser’s Ridge. It’s a promise Jamie made to her a long time ago, and for a while, it felt like he wouldn’t be able to keep that promise. Well, now he has.

The best thing is seeing how the people of the Ridge are ready for their return. They see a couple of characters on the way, and they hear all about other characters still at the Ridge. The two have not been forgotten, despite the fact that not everyone on the Ridge really liked them.

I think this chapter foreshadows a change for Claire. She is starting to accept who she is to the people of the 18th century, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

I would love to see a lot of this chapter used in the TV series. I know one character won’t show up, but we’re sure to see the chapter as a whole happen. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section of this post.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 137.
