Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 136 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter starts with William coming to thank Jamie for helping with Jane. Of course, Jamie was going to help his son. William just doesn’t know Jamie the way that we do, and he is starting to get a bit of a jaded view of the world with some of the things he’s seen.
This is a chance for William to find out how he was conceived. It’s not a conversation that Jamie wants to have, but William isn’t leaving without having it. He does deserve to know, so Jamie tells him the truth. While he didn’t love Geneva, he didn’t force himself on her in any way. There are some debates on this, but I’m not getting into that in this post.
William shares that he heard rumors about how his mother was careless and reckless. However, Jamie points out that Geneva was also brave. He admits that he is sorrowful for what happened to Geneva, and it’s something that he will always do penance for. However, he is not sorry that any of it happened. I guess if he was sorry about it, it would suggest that he regrets Williams, and that’s not the case.
Jamie leaves William. That’s the end of the conversation.
