Young Ian is becoming a bigger player in the Outlander story. Here’s a look at his three top moments from Outlander Season 7, Episode 4.
We are seeing more and more of Young Ian in Outlander, and not just with Jamie and Claire. He is getting more time on his own, which has meant saving a life and meeting a potential love interest.
As Ian decides to fight for America, he comes across William. There is no way he can leave the young man behind, especially as he realized who William is to Jamie. This all led to him meeting the Hunters, and they are going to be more important as the story continues.
Before we get into all that, we need to look back at the previous episode. Here are the three best Young Ian moments from Episode 4. They are in order of the events happening.
3 top Young Ian moments in Outlander Season 7, Episode 4
Choosing to fight for America
Young Ian didn’t necessarily want to go to Scotland, but he wasn’t going to argue with his uncle. As soon as he saw a chance, he made it clear that he is staying. He wants to fight for America to become what it should be. This is a country that he loves.
We also see that he isn’t forgetting his Mohawk connections. He knows Shawnee Indians are close, and they may fight for the Continental Army. He offers to go in search for them to help with the war efforts. He wants to be useful.
Saving William’s life
While heading through the Dismal Swamp, Ian comes across an injured William. Ian wastes no time in helping his cousin, and it brings us a touching moment of Rollo resting by William. Ian points out that Rollo accepts the man, and it’s clear that Rollo knows what Ian knows: William is family.
Young Ian isn’t going to let something drastic happen to William. He takes a side mission to find a good surgeon for William to save his life, leading them both to the Hunters.
Connecting with Rachel
Then there’s the moment between Ian and Rachel at the end of the episode. It’s clear that Ian likes Rachel, but he can’t stick around for now. He has a job to do, and he takes his tasks seriously.
However, he likes who Rachel is at a glance. She may not be a typical woman of her time, but she is a good woman. In fact, Ian likely sees someone very much like Claire, and he wants the type of love Jamie and Claire has. Is there hope for the two of them?
