Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with the siege starting. Claire and Jamie gather everyone to Claire’s surgery. We know that everything ahs been stored there. While in there, some prostitutes have come to see Claire and she cures them of the pox.

Well, Claire realizes that the prostitutes didn’t actually need the cure for themselves. They were going to sell it to others who did need it, and Claire happily gave it to them for free. We see this side to her where she just wants to limit illnesses spreading despite needing money herself. This really is the healer in her.

Jamie decides to go out to see what’s going on. That’s when he learns that the fighting has come to an end. It was a short siege, and as predicted, the British surrounded and beat the Americans. What does that mean for Fergus and Marsali, who are now printers? They haven’t set up L’Oignon (yes, The Onion) just yet. All they’ve been doing is handing out handbills, so they should be fine for the time being.

This is when they find out just how the British got in. A slave took the British through a small path that the Americans hadn’t been looking after. It meant few casualties, which is a good thing. The whole thing reminds Claire and Jamie of Prestonpans, but this time, it’s the British using the trick.
