The Siege of Savannah takes place in Outlander Season 8, Episode 129

The British troops surround Savannah and lay siege in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 129. What happens to Claire and Jamie?

We stay on the outskirts of the siege in this chapter. It makes a change, as usually Jamie is pulled into the fight. He’d made it clear to General Howe that he wasn’t going to fight this time, and he sticks to his word. I love that we get the opportunity o see what it’s like for people who aren’t involved in the fighting.

There are elements of the siege that remind Claire and Jamie of Prestonpans. I love that throwback. After all, the Revolutionary War is like the Jacobite Rebellion on a large scale. Plus, the British were able to learn from mistakes and battles of the past. That’s what they’ve done here.

The chapter foreshadows a little of what’s to come for Fergus and Marsali. However, this is more about plot development as we get close to the end of the book. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing.

What about using this in the TV series? I’m not too sure about that, but I’ll get to my thoughts on it in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 129.
