Bree and Roger have gone back through the stones in Outlander Season 7. Is this what happened in the Outlander books, or is this a show storyline?

Do you remember back in Outlander Season 5 when Bree and Roger took Jemmy to the stones? There were a lot of book fans complaining about the storyline. They viewed it as a waste of time. Show-first or show-only fans may have been a little confused. After all, the storyline did suit Roger’s idea that he never really planned to remain in the past. Neither did Bree if she was honest with herself.

Things changed, though. In the Season 5 storylines, the family ended up back in the 18th century. Home is where the heart is, and the heart was with Claire and Jamie.

Things changed in Outlander Season 7. We saw the MacKenzies go to the stones again. They’re heading to their own time again, but what is different this time? Is this a storyline from the book?

Bree and Roger go to the 1980s in the Outlander books

Yes, this is a storyline that comes straight from the books, so you won’t see much complaining from the book fans. This time it’s different because Bree and Roger need to go to their own time for the sake of their child.

Their second-born, Mandy, has a heart defect. Claire can’t fix it. They need modern-day medicine, and that means they need to get back to their own time if they want a chance at saving their daughter. They are both willing to make the dangerous trek with their children to do this. After all, they can’t leave Jemmy in the past with Claire and Jamie, as much as the grandparents would love to have him.

What will the 1980s bring? Will Bree and Roger ever get back to the past, or is this it for the two of them in the 18th century? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out. Or, you know, you could get the spoilers from the books.
