Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 117 breakdown
Claire faints after amputating a leg in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 117
Even the best doctors and surgeons can be overcome by what they see. That’s what happens to Claire in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 117.
She is called out by Benedict Arnold to help with treating a man who has been tarred and feathered. That’s not the part that overly bothers her, though. It’s the amputation that she needs to do. It doesn’t help that she doesn’t have all the right equipment with where she is, but she has to make do.
This is a chapter that I don’t really see being used in the TV series. While it shows the things that were going on during the Revolutionary War, it doesn’t add too much to Claire and Jamie’s story. To be honest, like the William chapter before it, it feels like it’s more filler before finally getting Claire and Jamie on their way. There are a few times that I feel this way in chapters.
As for foreshadowing, I don’t see any of that, either. It really does feel like filler, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.
