We get a heartbreaking moment for Ian and Rachel in Outlander Book 8, Chapter 115. This is certainly a chapter to have the tissues ready.
The end of Written in My Own Heart’s Blood is supposed to be a focus on where the characters will head to next. We need to know whether everyone will be together and what their plans are. We certainly get some of that in this chapter, but there’s also a heartbreaking moment.
It’s all about Rollo at the end of this chapter. Everything that has been foreshadowed for him up to this point has happened, and I still cry every time I read the chapter.
I also see foreshadowing in the chapter for Ian and Rachel. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.
Will we get to see this chapter play out? I certainly think so. This is a huge moment for Young Ian and Rachel together. It’s also important for how things change for Ian as he loses his best friend—the one loyal companion he’s had all his adult life.
