Is Outlander Season 7B impacted by the writers strike?

If you haven’t heard, there’s a writers strike happening. We know Outlander Season 7A won’t be impacted, but what about Outlander Season 7B?

The writers are on strike. Anyone who is part of the Writers Guild of America (and even international writers working on shows that are connected to the WGA) aren’t working on their shows right now.

What does that mean for our favorite show? Outlander Season 7A will premiere on Friday, June 16. That isn’t being affected at all by the strike, but we’re only getting eight episodes. There are eight more episodes to the season, and now eyes are on what this strike means for them.

Will Outlander Season 7B be delayed due to the strike?

You can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s unlikely that the eight episodes will be affected by the writers strike. Production work had been completed on the show, which means that there is less need for the writers at the moment. There may be some post-production work needed, and sometimes this means rewrites are needed. However, the series may be able to work around that—or just not rewrite at all!—at this point.

STARZ made it clear that Outlander Season 7B will arrive in 2024. So, even if something was needed, there will likely be time. There’s no telling how long the strike is going to last, but we have the rest of 2023. This isn’t the time to panic.

What could be affected is a premiere date. STARZ is going to run out of content just like all broadcast networks, other premium cable networks, and streaming platforms. It’s only a matter of time with so many productions on hold. This could mean Outlander Season 7B is pulled up or pushed back to help with managing the content that is available. It’s hard to say at this point.
