Just the Outlander chapter

Roger and Buck make it to Cranesmuir and head to the Douglas house. Geillis is there with Dr. Hector McEwan, who isn’t happy to see Roger and Buck again. Buck doesn’t care. He puts on his best charm and is taken upstairs by Geillis.

This gives Roger and McEwan time to talk. McEwan does some more healing work on Roger’s throat and shares that he could probably do more. However, he wants to give it a month to help with the healing.

McEwan also shares that he suspected that Geillis was a time traveler. She laughed at him when he told her who he was, but that didn’t stop the suspicions. Is it dangerous that he knows the truth now?

It doesn’t matter. He also tells Roger that Geillis was pregnant with his baby but she forced a miscarriage with herbs. I find this interesting considering she kept Dougal’s baby. I suspect that this is everything to do with setting up shop as the fiscal’s wife. That’s what she is now.

Roger warns McEwan to stay away from Geillis to save his soul. He also wants to save Geillis’s and Buck’s souls. However, McEwan can’t do that. He is drawn to Geillis, and I suspect that all time travelers are drawn to each other in some sort of way.

Buck and Geillis return, and so Buck and Roger leave. While getting a drink, Buck confesses that he kissed Geillis and touched her intimately. If you shudder every time he says all this, I don’t blame you. I do too. It still gets me. But that’s Buck for you.
