Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 97 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is certainly some foreshadowing in this chapter. The first is Jemmy saying that he can hear Roger. Bree will need Jemmy to help her find where Roger is exactly. This all foreshadows Bree’s experiment to see how far Jemmy and Mandy’s range is. It’s going to be useful in finding Roger.
Then there’s foreshadowing for Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. There’s a mention of how to make sure people travel to a certain point, and I feel like this part foreshadows the way everyone stays together when getting back to Claire and Jamie. Mandy is the one who is able to do that by giving them all one thing to focus on.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I would love to see this chapter play out in the TV series. I want to see Bree turn to Joe for help, but I’m not sure if it will happen. It all depends on whether Wil Johnson is available to return as Joe. If he is, then great. If not, the show will need to figure out a way around this.
There is a way. Bree could make the decisions herself and we could just see the moment with Jemmy telling her that he can hear Roger. This is the main part of the plot. I just want to see Bree have an adult to turn to for help.
