It’s often hard to keep track of who knows about time travel and who doesn’t. In some cases, it seems like the reveals have been off page. That’s especially the case with Joe Abernathy. Claire told him things, which made Bree’s trip to the late 1970s and early 1980s easier, but we didn’t see the conversation happen.

It doesn’t matter when you look at the grand scheme of things. Joe knows, and it offers Bree someone to talk to as she tries to figure out how to travel more than 202 years. Roger has done it.

I want to see this chapter used in the TV series. There is one thing that I could see preventing that, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

As for foreshadowing, I certainly think that this foreshadows something in the ninth book. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.
